Please read the following Terms and Conditions before submitting your entry.


PIER71 Smart Port Challenge (Challenge) is a world-wide call for innovative maritime technology solutions to be implemented by the maritime corporates in Singapore. The Challenge is organised by the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and National University of Singapore (NUS) through its commercialisation arm, NUS Enterprise. It aims to attract the best technology ventures all over the world to develop businesses in Singapore, leveraging the vibrancy of the maritime industries in this region.

The following terms and conditions are binding throughout the entire duration of the Challenge. By participating in the Challenge, all participants accept these terms and conditions and agree to abide by them. The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participants which is found to have violated the spirit of the guidelines and terms and conditions stated. The Organisers reserve the right to change these terms at any time. Changes will be reflected here.

1. Eligibility

1.1. Any individual or group of individuals ("Applicants"), whether incorporated or intend to incorporate, regardless of nationality, who has an innovative solution that addresses innovation opportunities in the Challenge, is eligible to apply.
1.2. Applicants do not have to be based in Singapore at the point of submission. However physical presence is required when they reach certain points of progress.

2. Submission

2.1. Proposals must be submitted before the stipulated deadline.
2.2. All submitted materials will be treated as confidential. Nevertheless, the organiser reserves the right to share submitted materials with third parties who express interest to fund the participants or adopt the proposed solutions.
2.3. The organiser may ask for additional info from the applicants and reserves the right to disqualify a submission if the submitted info is deemed incomplete or insufficient.
2.4. Applicants, if selected, are required to attend selection interviews with the maritime corporates.

3. PIER71 Accelerate

3.1. Applicants, if selected, shall be required to attend the PIER71 Accelerate ("Participants'), following the PIER71 Accelerate programme structure designed for various traction profiles.
3.2. Participants ought to be members of the core team with authority to steer the direction of the company or team and may be asked to attend a selection interview.
3.3. Participants of PIER71 Accelerate are expected to share their proposals and progress of their findings with other participants and mentors.
3.4. Overseas participants shall attend PIER71 Accelerate online.
3.5. Participants need not pay to attend PIER71 Accelerate neither shall the organiser be responsible for any cost or loss incurred by the participants as a result of attending PIER71 Accelerate.

4. Pitch Day – Prize and Grant

4.1. Participants shall be judged, based on their progress during PIER71 Accelerate, for selection to participate in the Pitch Day. The organiser reserves its right to assess and judge the participants.
4.2. The organiser reserves its right to judge and award prizes to the participants who are deemed to have the most exemplary solutions for the maritime industry.
4.3. Participants of the Pitch Day are eligible to apply for the MPA grant with quantum up to SGD50,000 per project. Separate terms and conditions will be applicable for the grant.

5. Publications

5.1. The organiser reserves its right to highlight the participants in its publication materials including press releases.
5.2. Participants need to seek the organiser’s clearance for publications involving the organiser or the branding of PIER71.
